  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry in Ontario, CA Research shows that smiling tricks your brain into being more positive. But what can you do if you are one of the 3 in 5 Americans who are self-conscious about their smiles? Fortunately, advancements in cosmetic dentistry have paved the way for transformative solutions. Cosmetic dentistry aims to enhance the appearance of your smile. At Esparza Dentistry, we provide a range of treatments to target your concerns and leave you with a flawless smile. Who Is a Good Candidate for Cosmetic Dentistry? If your teeth are crooked, stained, chipped, cracked, broken, misshapen, or otherwise flawed, you may be a strong candidate for a cosmetic dentistry treatment. For individuals with cavities, gum disease, or another oral health issue, we will need to address these problems before beginning cosmetic treatment. If this applies to you, there's no need to worry: our expert dental team designs comprehensive treatment plans that meet your dental needs and cosmetic goals. Popular Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures At Esparza Dentistry, we offer many cosmetic dentistry solutions. Your treatment options are based on the extent of your imperfections and your desired degree of transformation. At your free consultation, we will discuss whether a treatment that is both restorative and cosmetic—like a tooth-colored crown or mini dental implant—would suit your needs best. Below are some of the popular cosmetic procedures performed at our office. Porcelain Veneers Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells that bond to the front surface of your teeth. Tailored to fit your teeth and achieve your smile goals, veneers are an excellent option for a dramatic smile transformation that looks and feels natural. They also treat a wide range of concerns: from chipped and discolored teeth to small or gapped teeth, porcelain veneers can help. A significant benefit of porcelain veneers is their durability and stain resistance. With veneers, you can smile proudly for more than 15 years. Dental Bonding Dental bonding is a versatile treatment that allows us to change the shape, color, and size of your teeth and repair chips and cracks. When we perform this procedure, we apply a tooth-colored composite resin material to your teeth. While the composite material is not as durable or stain-resistant as porcelain veneers, dental bonding is an excellent option for individuals who want a less expensive treatment option that provides a less dramatic transformation. Dental bonding is also suitable for those interested in a reversible option. Tooth-Colored Fillings At Espraza Dentistry, we also use composite resin to fill cavities. Though cavities are a common dental issue, most people don't want their filling to be noticeable. Silver (amalgam) fillings are easily seen in your mouth, even when applied to back molars. Composite resin dental fillings circumvent this issue using tooth-colored material that is shade-matched to your teeth. This restores your tooth's function while providing an aesthetically pleasing result. Orthodontic Treatments Orthodontic treatments can straighten teeth or fix a misaligned bite. Traditional treatments are effective but can be inconvenient and time-consuming. If you are looking for a more efficient remedy, Fastbraces® may be right for you. Using a patented bracket and wire system, fast braces offer results in about 100 days, with patients noticing improvements in as little as a few days. If you want a more discreet treatment option, you might consider Invisalign®. This option uses a series of trays to gradually shift your teeth into proper alignment. Clear aligners like Invisalign can be removed for eating, playing sports and instruments, and attending special events like weddings and job interviews. While not as quick as fast braces, Invisalign provides a more efficient result than traditional braces.

  • Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding in Ontario, CA Research shows that smiling significantly affects our social interactions more than any other physical trait and has been linked to perceptions of kindness, trustworthiness, and intelligence. Unsurprisingly, perceived imperfections in our teeth can really weigh on us. So what can you do if you are displeased with your smile? At Esparza Dentistry, we offer several cosmetic and restorative treatments, but one of the most versatile and affordable solutions for smile enhancement is dental bonding. If you have a gap in your smile, a chipped or aesthetic tooth, or another aesthetic concern, dental bonding can help. What Is Dental Bonding? Dental bonding is a common procedure in many dentist offices today and can be used for various purposes. During the procedure, we apply a tooth-colored composite resin to change the size, shape, or color of your teeth. In some cases, this same material is used to fill cavities as an alternative to noticeable silver fillings. You may benefit from dental bonding if you'd like to address any of the following concerns: Chipped or cracked teeth Discoloration Gaps between your teeth (diastema) Small or short teeth Dental bonding is an excellent and affordable option for many patients looking to adjust and enhance their smile. The Dental Bonding Procedure At your free consultation, we will discuss the concerns you have about your smile and determine if dental bonding is the best treatment option for you. A routine exam of your gums and teeth will help us evaluate the extent of damage to your smile so that we can plan a suitable treatment course. Sometimes, patients want a more drastic cosmetic transformation or need a restorative solution instead of a cosmetic one; if that's the case, we can review other treatments with you. We'll also discuss your medical history, medications, and oral hygiene habits. Before we apply the bonding material, we'll need to match the color of the composite resin to your teeth using a shade guide. To prepare the tooth, we will clean and roughen it. We'll also apply a conditioning liquid. These measures help the putty-like resin adhere to the tooth. Once the tooth is ready, we'll apply and sculpt the resin to address your specific concerns. The resin is then hardened using ultraviolet light. We'll finish the procedure by polishing the tooth. You can expect your appointment to take between 30 and 60 minutes, although additional time is required if more than one tooth needs treatment. Dental Bonding Benefits Dental bonding has many benefits, which include: Natural appearance: Because we match the composite resin to the natural shade of your teeth, you can expect the bonding material to blend in seamlessly. Affordable solution: Bonding is an accessible cosmetic solution for many of our patients because of the procedure's affordability. In fact, dental bonding is one of the most inexpensive aesthetic treatments offered in dental offices. However, we offer flexible options for financing your dental care if you need financial assistance. We will gladly discuss all financing options at your free consultation. Immediate result: If you want an in-and-out single-visit treatment, dental bonding is a great option. The procedure is quick and painless, requiring no anesthesia. As a result, no healing period is needed, so you can get back to your daily activities as soon as your appointment is over. Aftercare: Protect Your Beautiful Smile Dental bonding is a low-maintenance treatment, but because it can stain, you should avoid dark-colored foods and drinks for 48 hours after your procedure. Reducing your overall intake of staining foods and beverages like berries, fruit juices, red wine, dark sodas, tea, and coffee can maintain the radiance of your smile. Smoking is also a tooth-staining culprit that can cause significant oral health issues. Because the bonding material is not as strong as your natural teeth, it can chip more easily. You should take care to avoid biting your nails, chewing on pens, opening packaging with your teeth, and chewing ice or other hard foods and candies.

  • Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges in Ontario, CA Half of American adults ages 20 to 64 have lost at least one permanent tooth. Tooth loss leaves you with gaps in your smile that may lower your self-confidence, prevent you from enjoying the foods you love, and impact your ability to speak confidently. Dental bridges are a commonly-used solution for replacing missing teeth. With dental bridges, we can conceal the gap in your smile while restoring function to your bite. What Are Dental Bridges? A dental bridge is a prosthetic restoration used to replace missing teeth. A traditional bridge contains a row of artificial teeth with connecting crowns on each end. These crowns attach to your natural teeth on either side of the bridge to hold the bridge in place. You may be a good candidate for a dental bridge if you have one or more missing teeth in a row. To support a bridge, the teeth on either side of the gap need to be healthy. You must also have good oral health and a strong jawbone to qualify for a bridge. If you have cavities or gum issues like gingivitis or periodontitis, these must be addressed before we can place a bridge. How do Dental Bridges Differ from Other Restorations? Other methods for replacing missing teeth are partial dentures and dental implants. Partial dentures may be used if more teeth are missing or if tooth loss impacts both sides of the arch. Unlike bridges, which are bonded to your teeth with dental cement, partial dentures are removable. Partials must be taken out for cleaning and soaked overnight to maintain their integrity. The look of partial dentures also differs from the look of dental bridges. The artificial teeth on a partial denture attach to a gum-colored acrylic base. Conversely, a bridge contains crowns and prosthetic teeth with no artificial gum. While a partial denture may be cheaper, bridges are more long-lasting. Dental implants are the longest-lasting replacement option for missing teeth. A mini dental implant is a small metal post that is screwed into the jawbone. Mini implants can support dental appliances like crowns, bridges, and dentures. We recommend mini implants when neighboring teeth are not healthy enough to support a bridge. Like traditional bridges, implant-supported bridges are permanently anchored. Read on to learn more about implant-supported bridges. Types of Dental Bridges Different types of dental bridges solve different issues caused by tooth loss. Traditional Fixed Bridge A traditional fixed bridge is the most commonly-used bridge. The prosthetic is secured to the healthy tooth on both sides of the gap. Each end of the bridge has a crown, and the artificial tooth or teeth are between them. Cantilever Bridge A cantilever bridge is used instead when only one healthy tooth remains on either side of the gap (or if the missing tooth is a back molar). In this case, the bridge is attached on only one end. For traditional and cantilever bridges to fit securely onto the natural teeth, we need to shape the teeth by removing some enamel. Maryland Bonded Bridge A Maryland bonded bridge is the most conservative type of bridge. Instead of capping neighboring teeth for support, a Maryland bridge is connected to the back of the teeth with metal wings. Because it doesn't require any enamel removal, Maryland bridge placement is non-invasive, requiring no anesthesia. Though a Maryland bridge is a good option for replacing front teeth, they are not strong enough to withstand the pressure exerted on teeth like molars. Implant-Supported Bridge The strongest and most long-lasting method to anchor a bridge is by using mini dental implants to provide support. Rather than putting pressure on your natural teeth, the bridge is connected to the implant. The implant is secured into the jawbone and has a ball on one end that protrudes above the gumline. Implant-supported bridges are a great option when the remaining teeth aren't strong enough to support the appliance. Because the procedure to place mini implants is efficient and minimally invasive, we can typically place them and mount the bridge in the same visit. Implant-supported bridges have impressive success rates and offer many benefits. For one, they help ensure a healthy jawbone. When you put pressure on the jawbone through biting and chewing, your body continues to generate bone cells and send nutrients to that area. Unfortunately, when a tooth is lost, the root no longer stimulates the jawbone in this way. Because dental implants are artificial tooth roots that fuse with the jawbone, they provide the necessary stimulation to maintain a healthy jaw. Mini implants are also incredibly durable, owing to their metal posts and integration with the jawbone. With proper care, your implants can last a lifetime.

  • Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns in Ontario, CA Cracked, decayed, or worn-down teeth can make previously simple tasks, like eating and speaking, difficult and even painful. When it comes to treating your dental problem, preserving your natural tooth is our first goal. With dental crowns, we can restore the structure and function of your damaged or decayed tooth to prevent further harm. What Are Dental Crowns? Dental crowns are custom-made prosthetics that fit over damaged teeth to restore their function and appearance. Sometimes called "caps," crowns cover the entire exposed surface of the tooth. Dental crowns are recommended to: Preserve a cracked or broken tooth Support a tooth with a large filling Strengthen weak or worn-down teeth Protect a tooth after root canal therapy Cover a significantly stained tooth If a tooth is lost or extracted, we use crowns to cover a mini dental implant, secure a bridge, or bolster the support teeth for a partial denture. Are You A Good Candidate for Dental Crowns? You may be a good candidate for a dental crown if you need to repair and restore a decayed, fractured, or weak tooth. At your free consultation, we'll ask about your medical history, the medications you take, and your oral hygiene practices. We'll also determine the condition of your teeth by taking X-rays and conducting a dental exam. With this information, we can work with you to determine a treatment course that aligns with your dental goals and budget. We will gladly discuss our flexible financing options to help you access the quality care you need. Prevent Further Damage with a Dental Crown Worn, cracked, and decayed teeth cannot repair themselves. If left untreated, your damaged tooth can worsen, requiring more-invasive procedures or corrective surgery. Worn-down teeth can split, cracked teeth can break further, and decayed teeth may become infected. Capping your affected tooth with a dental crown can help you avoid root canal therapy and even tooth extraction. Delaying treatment can cost you time and money in the long run. With same-day crowns at Esparza Dentistry, we can quickly fix your damaged tooth and prevent further issues from arising. Same-Day Dental Crowns At other practices, getting a dental crown requires multiple appointments. Esparza Dentistry uses CEREC technology to create your custom ceramic crown in-house. You won't need to wait weeks for an off-site dental lab to create your restoration or wear a temporary crown. Instead, you can expect your entire appointment to last between one and two hours.

  • Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings in Ontario, CA If you have a cavity, you're not alone: dental fillings are one of the most common treatments in dental offices. According to the CDC, 1 in 4 adults currently has at least one cavity. Unfortunately, cavities are often left untreated, leading to more serious problems down the road. At Esparza Dentistry, our compassionate team of dental professionals will fill your cavity quickly and efficiently so you don't have to worry about complications. [ux_video url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAhBbypM0Pg"] How Do Cavities Form? Cavities, or tooth decay, are small holes in the tooth caused by plaque accumulation. When naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth mix with sugary food and drinks, an acid is created. The combination of acid, bacteria, saliva, and food particles creates plaque, a sticky substance that coats your teeth. Proper brushing, especially after you eat, helps to remove plaque. However, when plaque accumulates, the acid wears away the enamel, creating a cavity that must be filled. Signs You Need Dental Fillings Signs of a cavity depend on the severity of decay. You may have a cavity that requires a dental filling if you experience the following symptoms: Toothache Pain while chewing Bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth Sensitivity, especially to hot or cold foods and drinks Visible holes or pits Swelling Staining that appears white, brown, or black Treating Cavities with Dental Fillings Cavities can be repaired with dental fillings. Several different filling materials can be used to close the hole in your tooth. You may be familiar with amalgam fillings, which are silver in appearance. These fillings are made of silver, tin, and copper mixed with liquid mercury. To place a silver filling, we need to use a drill to remove the decay and shape the cavity. While amalgam fillings have been used for more than 150 years due to their strength and affordability, they are quickly becoming overshadowed by tooth-colored composite resin fillings. There are many benefits of tooth-colored fillings, which make them a first-choice material for many patients. Their advantages include: Natural look: Because composite fillings are the same color as your natural teeth, they are nearly indetectable. This makes them especially useful for cavities on highly visible teeth, like those in the front of your mouth. With tooth-colored fillings, you'll be able to laugh heartily and smile proudly, knowing that others won't notice your fillings. Maintain tooth structure: Amalgam fillings require us to remove some tooth structure before placing them. On the other hand, composite fillings are bonded directly to the tooth in layers, allowing us to preserve the integrity of your teeth while providing enhanced support. No mercury: Unlike amalgam fillings, composite fillings contain no mercury or other metals. Instead, a plastic material called acrylic resin is mixed with powdered glass quartz, silica, or other ceramic particles. As a result, composite resin fillings are very safe. No corrosion: Amalgam fillings will eventually corrode, causing the filling to look black. More importantly, the corrosion can let bacteria seep through, leaving your tooth vulnerable to additional decay. Composite fillings do not corrode. Versatile: Besides filling cavities, we use composite resin to restore chipped, broken, or worn teeth. While tooth-colored fillings are not quite as long-lasting as silver ones and may take a little longer to place, they are an excellent choice for patients who want an undetectable, metal-free filling.

  • Dental Implants

Dental Implants in Ontario, CA Tooth loss can impair your ability to eat and speak normally, leading you to change your eating habits, hide your smile, and even avoid social activities you once loved. If you are frustrated by your missing teeth, dental implants can help. Whether you want to replace missing teeth or stabilize your dentures, Esparza Dentistry provides expert dental implant placement in a friendly and compassionate atmosphere. [ux_video url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aElQUpOMIJ4"] What Are Dental Implants? Dental implants are a type of dental prosthesis that replaces the entire missing tooth from the root to the crown. Whether you have lost teeth due to dental trauma, decay, gum disease, or other situations, implants effectively fill the gap in your smile. You may benefit from dental implants if: You want to replace individual missing teeth with a crown You want to replace one or more missing teeth in a row with a bridge You want to restore a full arch of teeth with a permanent denture Your current dentures are loose or ill-fitting, and you'd like to anchor them permanently While implants are an effective solution to missing teeth, you may not qualify for dental implants if: You are under 18 years old You have poor oral hygiene or substantial decay You have gum disease (periodontitis) You have vascular or bone disease You smoke You are receiving chemotherapy or radiation You take certain medications You have diabetes Benefits of Replacing Teeth with Dental Implants Maintain the Integrity of Your Bite When you lose even one tooth, neighboring teeth naturally shift toward the gap, leading to a misaligned bite. An altered bite weakens your bite force, compromising your ability to chew normally. You may also experience teeth grinding, speech problems, and difficulty cleaning your teeth due to an uneven bite. Dental implants stop your teeth from shifting by filling the gap left by missing teeth. Prevent Bone Loss and Preserve Your Facial Appearance The root of your tooth plays an important role in maintaining the health of your jaw. When you chew, the root sends a signal to generate bone tissue and send nutrients to the jawbone. If a tooth is lost or extracted, the pressure of your bite no longer stimulates the jawbone, meaning that your body thinks the jaw isn't needed. Without this stimulation, the bone begins to recede. This process of resorption has many negative consequences. Without a healthy jawbone, you may experience pain or discomfort when you chew, difficulty speaking, headaches, and facial or jaw pain. Jawbone deterioration also leads to changes in your facial appearance that make you look older. Facial collapse causes premature wrinkles, lips that sink inward, a more pronounced and pointed chin, and an overall caved-in appearance. An advantage of dental implants for replacing missing teeth is that the implant is screwed into your jawbone, mimicking your natural tooth root. As a result, dental implants are the only dental restoration that prevents bone loss. The implants restore the bite force needed to stimulate the jawbone and preserve its strength. With dental implants, you will regain a healthy bite and maintain the appearance of your face.

  • Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants in Ontario, CA Sealing a deck to prevent moisture and sun exposure from damaging the wood is common practice, but did you know that you can seal your teeth too? When you seal a tooth, you block bacteria from accumulating in vulnerable cracks and crevices, which prevents cavities. In the US, cavities are the most common chronic disease among children, and over a quarter of adults have untreated tooth decay. Though prevalent, cavities are entirely preventable. Dental sealants help to prevent decay from developing, saving you and your family valuable time and money treating cavities. At Esparza Dentistry, we apply dental sealants as a preventative measure that keeps your smile radiant and healthy for years. What Are Dental Sealants? Grooves in your teeth are vulnerable to decay because they trap food particles that feed the bacteria in your mouth. When bacteria and food mix, they generate acids. The combination of bacteria, food particles, acids, and saliva creates plaque. If not removed, the acids in plaque wear away your enamel, leading to cavities. Dental sealants are protective barriers that cover the tooth's pits and fissures to prevent plaque and bacteria from accumulating. The sealant is a tooth-colored material made from resins or glass ionomers. We often apply dental sealants to the molars, where 9 out of 10 cavities occur due to their rough, uneven structure. We recommend that parents have their children's molars sealed as soon as they have erupted completely. For first molars, this usually occurs at age 6, while second molars typically come in at age 12. However, sealants can be applied at any time as long as a cavity has not yet formed. Applying the Sealant The procedure for placing sealants is quick, easy, and painless. For children and adults with dental anxiety, this is an important benefit. We start the process by thoroughly cleaning your tooth, ensuring a pristine surface for the application. Then, we apply an etching solution so the sealant adheres securely to the tooth. After rinsing and drying the tooth, we paint on the sealant. The thin liquid flows easily into the tooth's grooves and takes only a minute to harden. At the end of this brief procedure, you'll be left with a durable layer of protection. Many people wonder when they can eat after a dental sealant is applied. It is safe to eat immediately after your procedure, but we suggest refraining from chewy, sticky, or hard foods for the first 24-48 hours. These foods also affect the longevity of your dental sealant, so limiting them is recommended.

  • Dentures

Dentures in Ontario, CA Tooth loss is a widespread dental problem affecting the lives of many American adults. According to the CDC, about a quarter of adults aged 65 or older have 8 or fewer teeth remaining, with 1 in 6 adults missing all their teeth. Losing permanent teeth can profoundly affect our lives, forcing us to change the foods we eat, alter our way of speaking, and shy away from laughing or smiling. Dentures are a common method for replacing missing teeth, allowing you to regain the function of your bite and restore your smile. At Esparza Dentistry, we offer different denture options depending on the condition of your teeth, your dental goals and preferences, and your budget. Read on to learn more about traditional dentures and revolutionary implant dentures. Why Do You Need Dentures? If you have lost some or all of your teeth, dentures can help. Whether you have lost teeth due to gum disease, decay, erosion, or injury, replacing your teeth quickly can enhance your quality of life. One important benefit of dentures is that they help you eat normally. When you are missing teeth, eating a healthy, balanced diet becomes difficult. Severe tooth loss impairs your ability to chew meats, fruits, and vegetables while putting excess pressure on your remaining teeth. Gaps also invite food and bacteria buildup that can lead to further complications like decay and gum disease. Dentures distribute your chewing force and shield vulnerable gaps. Your teeth also play a crucial role in how you pronounce words. Dentures aid in proper pronunciation, enabling you to speak confidently. In addition to impairing your ability to eat and speak as you used to, gaps in your smile can impact your self-esteem. When you lose teeth, you may avoid social activities due to changes in your facial appearance. Dentures allow you to flash a beautiful smile and retain your facial structure. Some denture options even maintain the long-term health of your gum and jawbone in ways that other options can't. Denture Types Dentures are prosthetic dental appliances that replace your missing teeth. At Esparza Dentistry, we provide different denture options to suit your individual needs, goals, and budget. Full Dentures If you are missing all of your teeth in your upper or lower jaw (or both), full dentures can help. Also known as complete dentures, full dentures replace an entire arch of teeth. On a full denture, the artificial teeth are connected to a gum-colored base made of acrylic resin. These removable dentures sit on your gums and are supported by the roof of your mouth or lower jawbone. While a well-fitting full denture can be held in place by suction, some people also use a dental adhesive for extra stability, especially as the denture loosens over time. Partial Dentures Like full dentures, partial dentures are also removable. However, they are used when some healthy teeth remain in the jaw. A partial denture contains fake teeth on a resin base, much like a full denture, but also has a metal framework with claps that hook onto your remaining teeth for added support. Both full and partial dentures must be taken out at night for cleaning. Sleeping without your dentures also gives your gums a break and prevents oral stomatitis, a yeast infection of the mouth that is common with traditional denture wearers. If you are missing one or more teeth in a row and have healthy teeth surrounding the gap, you may be eligible for a fixed dental bridge. At your free consultation, we will discuss the replacement options available and help you choose the treatment that best suits you. Implant Dentures Implant dentures are a modern alternative to traditional full or partial dentures that come in removable, semi-removable, and non-removable options. As expert implantologists, we use revolutionary mini dental implants to stabilize loose dentures or secure full arch bridges. Mini dental implants are small titanium posts that we screw into your jawbone. The implant emulates the strength of your natural tooth root to support a prosthetic device. Mini implants are uniquely versatile, supporting various dental restorations like crowns, bridges, or dentures. We can even retrofit your loose dentures to stabilize them with mini implants. Implant-retained dentures, called overdentures, are removable dentures that snap on and off mini implants. Implant-retained dentures typically need fewer implants than fixed implant dentures: we place at least six mini implants to retain an upper denture and at least four implants for a lower denture. Implant-supported dentures, called permanent dentures, are firmly secured to the implant and can only be removed by your dentist. Permanent implant dentures improve the stability of your restoration but typically require more implants for adequate support.

  • Fastbraces

Fast Braces in Ontario, CA Are crooked teeth or a misaligned bite lowering your self-confidence? Are you eager to achieve the smile you've always envisioned? With traditional braces, you have to wait years to see results. Thanks to advancements in modern dentistry, we can straighten your teeth in a matter of months, not years. At Esparza Dentistry, we provide quick and effective teeth straightening with revolutionary Fastbraces®, an alternative to conventional braces. Fast braces are a patented technology that reduces the treatment timeline of traditional braces so that you can flash a beautiful smile sooner than you ever thought possible. What Are Fast Braces? Four million Americans are wearing braces at any given time. Unfortunately, traditional braces take an average of two years to rectify misaligned teeth because they use a two-stage system for realignment. The first stage moves the crown, while the second stage aligns the roots. Each stage takes about a year to complete. Unlike conventional braces, fast braces move the crown and root simultaneously due to their unique design. Fast braces, like traditional braces, are a bracket and wire system that we attach to the outer surface of your teeth. The brackets are either esthetic clear or metal with a high-tech nickel-titanium wire. However, the brackets on fast braces are triangular instead of square. The shape and positioning of the bracket increase the wire's flexibility, exerting greater force on the tooth root. As a result, the root begins moving at the onset of treatment, cutting down the typical realignment rate by more than half. Though fast braces are innovative, they aren't new. Fast braces have been used for over 30 years in more than 50 countries. In that time, thousands of patients have unveiled beautiful new smiles, often in less than 100 days. What Problems Do Fast Braces Address? Fast braces are a safe, effective, and fast solution to correct your teeth. We use them to treat a wide range of orthodontic concerns, such as: Overbite Underbite Openbite Crossbite Crowded or crooked teeth Spacing issues and gaps between teeth Overjet (protrusion of the upper teeth) If you have any of these issues, we can use fast braces to save your smile. Benefits of Fast Braces Fast braces don't just shorten your time wearing braces. Read on to learn more about the benefits of this innovative technology. Quick Results As the name suggests, fast braces provide quick results, with patients experiencing noticeably straighter teeth in a matter of days. While each person's teeth are different, fast braces can completely realign your teeth in about 100 days. Issues that take traditional braces years to rectify can be repaired with fast braces in a significantly shorter timeframe. These abbreviated treatment windows are a huge advantage for teenagers and adults who may be embarrassed about their smiles.

  • Invisalign

Invisalign in Ontario, CA Are you hesitant to smile in photos? Would you like to avoid bulky traditional braces? If so, you've likely heard of Invisalign®, an orthodontic treatment that first came on the market in 1998. If you want to improve your smile quickly and undetectably, this treatment option may be right for you. Invisalign is a type of clear aligner that can discreetly adjust your teeth to transform your smile into one you can show off confidently. What Is Invisalign? Invisalign® is a removable orthodontic appliance that offers an alternative to traditional fixed braces. Clear aligners like Invisalign are thin, clear plastic trays that are custom-made to move your teeth predictably. Made from a patented thermoplastic material, your aligners will fit snugly and comfortably. Unlike bulky metal braces with a bracket and wire structure, Invisalign clear aligners are nearly undetectable when you smile. How Does Invisalign Work? Throughout your treatment, you'll wear a series of custom-made aligners or trays that gradually shift your teeth into the proper position. These trays apply a constant but gentle pressure to realign your teeth. Depending on the severity of your case and your specific treatment plan, you will change to a new set of aligners every one to two weeks. Invisalign must be worn for 20-22 hours to achieve the desired result. You should remove your clear aligners while eating and drinking but wear them as you sleep. The treatment timeframe depends on your individual needs, but Invisalign treatment is significantly shorter than conventional braces. Some patients complete treatment in as little as six months, but you can start seeing results within weeks. What Concerns Can Invisalign Address? Invisalign can treat just about any common teeth-straightening concern, such as: Overcrowding Crooked teeth Overbite Underbite Crossbite Openbite Gaps in teeth While millions of people have found success with Invisalign, some issues may require different treatments. These include: Severely crowded teeth Severe overbite Misshapen teeth Teeth that need to be raised or lowered In these cases, we may recommend traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments to achieve your desired result. Who Is a Good Candidate for Treatment? You are likely eligible for Invisalign treatment if you have good oral and overall health. 15 million people—including four million teenagers—have used Invisalign to enhance their smiles. Compliance is a key variable in treatment with clear aligners, so the best Invisalign candidates will diligently follow the treatment plan and protocols. Keeping appointments and following guidelines for maintenance and cleaning are also essential for success. Teen aligners come with a built-in compliance indication system so that parents can ensure their child is consistently wearing the aligners. A small blue dot at the back of the aligner is designed to fade as the child wears the aligners for the proper length of time.

  • Mini Dental Implants

Mini Dental Implants in Ontario, CA If you are suffering from tooth loss, you've likely experienced difficulty chewing, eating, and speaking. Missing teeth can profoundly diminish your quality of life, affecting your mental and physical health and social wellness. If this describes you, you're not alone: 7 out of 10 adults ages 34 to 44 will lose at least one permanent tooth. At Esparza Dentistry, we offer innovative mini dental implants to help you regain your chewing function, restore your ability to communicate, and enhance the beauty of your smile. What Are Mini Dental Implants? If you need to fill the gap in your smile, mini dental implants provide a powerful solution. Mini dental implants are a revolutionary technology consisting of a narrow titanium post with a ball on one end, a rubber O-ring, and a dental prosthetic. Expert implantologists at Esparza Dentistry place the implant by screwing the post into your jawbone. A false crown, bridge, or denture attaches to the post with the O-ring. Compared to larger traditional dental implants that have multiple components, the mini implant structure is more streamlined and compact. Despite the fabricated materials, mini implants replicate the natural look and feel of your teeth and function the same way. The Value of Mini Dental Implants Mini implants are an excellent option for replacing your missing teeth, especially if: You want to replace one tooth, many teeth, or all of your teeth permanently Your jawbone doesn't have enough volume or density to accommodate traditional implants You are reluctant to undergo a bone grafting procedure, often needed for conventional implants You are looking for a highly-effective non-surgical remedy for replacing teeth Your lost or extracted tooth was small, or you have a narrow gap You have a limited budget or want to save money without compromising quality You don't want to endure the long procedure process required for conventional implants You aren't interested in traditional dentures, which can be ill-fitting and require changes to your dietary habits Small Size Mini implants measure less than 3 mm in diameter, taking up much less space in the jawbone than conventional implants, which are approximately 5 mm wide. Many patients are told they are ineligible for traditional implants because their jawbone lacks the necessary volume and density to accommodate the screw. As a result, many patients opting for conventional implants would need to undergo a bone grafting procedure. Bone grafting involves harvesting bone tissue from another area in the body or purchasing it from a human or animal tissue bank. The tissue is transplanted to the jawbone and left to heal before the implant can be placed. Unfortunately, this means extending the treatment timeline and prolonging your journey to a beautiful and functional smile. Due to the significantly smaller size of a mini implant, bone grafts are typically unnecessary. This eliminates a procedure step often required for traditional implants. For patients with dental anxiety or anyone looking for a rapid solution to replacing missing teeth, the quick and gentle mini implant procedure is preferable. The small size of a mini implant is also useful for replacing small or narrow teeth, such as the front teeth. Versatility Mini implants have many uses, which make them an excellent solution for many patients. We can attach an artificial crown to the implant to replace individual teeth or secure a fixed bridge when one or more teeth are missing in a row. A traditional dental bridge attaches to the teeth surrounding the gap, but if those teeth are not healthy enough to support the bridge, mini implants can be used instead.

  • Night Guards

Night Guards in Ontario, CA According to a 2021 survey, over 70% of dentists observed signs of teeth grinding and clenching in their patients. If you grind your teeth, you may have experienced face and jaw pain, headaches, trouble sleeping, and teeth damage, among other symptoms. Night guards are a type of dental splint that can protect your teeth and dental restorations from grinding and clenching at night. At Esparza Dentistry, we offer custom-made night guards to fit your mouth perfectly. What Are Night Guards? You are likely familiar with mouth guards that are often required to play action and contact sports. Mouth guards protect your teeth, gums, and lips from impact, reducing the likelihood of chipped or knocked-out teeth, lacerations, or other orofacial injuries. Both mouth guards and night guards are protective dental splints, but night guards, as their name suggests, are typically used at bedtime. Night guards are plastic appliances that combat chronic nighttime teeth grinding (bruxism). They provide a protective barrier between your top and bottom teeth that absorbs and disperses the pressure of your bite. Like other mouth guards, night guards are typically worn on the top teeth. Night Guards Combat Bruxism Clenching or grinding your teeth, also known as bruxism, affects over 30 million children and adults in the United States. While some people clench or grind their teeth during the day, others do so at night, often without even realizing it until a bed partner or dentist notices the signs. At your dental exam, we will look for evidence of nighttime bruxism. Who Needs Night Guards? While teeth grinding and clenching are common, some people are more likely than others to experience bruxism and need night guards. Risk factors for bruxism include: Stress and anxiety Anger, frustration, or tension Age (children are more likely to experience bruxism) Consumption of caffeinated or alcoholic beverages Tobacco use Family history of bruxism Certain mental health or medical disorders (ADHD, night terrors, sleep apnea, epilepsy, dementia, gastroesophageal reflux disorder, Parkinson's disease) Psychiatric medications like SSRIs, amphetamines, or antipsychotics Competitive or aggressive personality types Consequences of Bruxism When left untreated, bruxism can cause permanent damage to your teeth, impair your jaw, compromise your sleep quality, and cause headaches. Common effects of bruxism are: Loose teeth Worn-down enamel that can cause cracked teeth (which may require crowns or dental implants) Damage to dental restorations like dental bridges Temporomandibular join (TMJ) issues Face, jaw, and neck pain Tension headaches and migraines Poor sleep Grinding sounds that may disturb your bed partner At night, bruxism movements have greater force than normal chewing, making your teeth and jaw especially vulnerable to injury. Because you may not notice that you clench or grind your teeth while you sleep, it is especially important to know the signs of bruxism and consult your dentist at Esparza Dentistry if you are experiencing any symptoms. We can make a custom-fitting night guard to alleviate your symptoms and forestall the lasting effects of bruxism. Over-the-Counter vs. Custom-fitted Night Guards While over-the-counter night guards are available at many pharmacies, they are not as effective at treating bruxism as custom-fitted ones. "Boil and bite" options allow for some customization because they can be somewhat molded to your teeth when the material is heated. Ready-made stock guards, on the other hand, are not customizable. This "ready to go" one-size-fits-all option can be ill-fitting and uncomfortable. Since no one's teeth are the same, these over-the-counter options are less effective than custom-made night guards.

  • Oral Cancer Screening

Oral Cancer Screening in Ontario, CA You may not think of cancer as being part of your dental care, but we do. At Esparza Dentistry, we are committed to helping you achieve optimal oral health. Oral cancer screening plays a crucial role in the early detection and prevention of mouth cancer. At your appointment, we will examine your mouth, lips, face, and neck for signs of cancer. Incorporating oral cancer screenings into your oral healthcare routine can bring you peace of mind and empower you to be proactive about your well-being. What Is Oral Cancer? Cancers are named based on where they originate, so oral cancer begins in the oral cavity or back of the throat. Oral cancer, also called mouth cancer, is a potentially life-threatening disease that impacts the gums, lips, mouth, or tongue. It is the most common head and neck cancer, affecting thousands of Americans annually. The National Cancer Institute estimates over 54,000 new oral cancer diagnoses will be made in 2023. The five-year survival rate for those diagnosed with oral cancer is 68%. As with other cancers, mouth cancer is more treatable when detected early. Unfortunately, oral cancer is often discovered late in its development: it begins as a small spot or sore that goes unnoticed until it has spread. Most mouth cancers are squamous cell carcinomas, which tend to spread quickly. Mouth Cancer Symptoms Oral cancer can present in different ways, but common symptoms of mouth cancer include: A sore that does not heal A white or red patch on the gums, tongue, or mouth lining A lump on the lips or in the mouth Atypical bleeding, pain, or numbness in the mouth Swelling of the neck or jaw Ear pain Pain while chewing or swallowing Change in color of the oral tissues You may not feel any pain or symptoms until the cancer has advanced, which highlights the importance of routine screenings at Esparza Dentistry. At your appointment, we will thoroughly examine you for any signs of early-stage oral cancer and guide you with the next steps should we find anything out of the ordinary. Remember that just because we find something irregular does not mean you necessarily have cancer. Who Is at Risk? Oral cancer can affect anyone at any age, but it is more likely to develop after age 40. Though the average age of people diagnosed with oral cancer is 64, 20% of cases occur in people younger than 55. It is also twice as common in men than in women. Other factors that increase a person's risk for developing mouth cancer are: Excessive alcohol use Tobacco use of any kind Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection Significant sun exposure, which can cause cancer in the lips Family history of head and neck cancer You don't need to be at risk to receive an oral cancer screening. We conduct screenings for our patients as a precautionary measure. For patients over 20 years of age, we recommend an oral cancer screening once every three years. Patients at risk and those 40 years or older should be checked for signs of oral cancer every year.

  • Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers in Ontario, CA Research shows that a wide, beaming smile is a key element of smile attractiveness. But what if you aren't satisfied with your smile? Porcelain veneers can change the dimensions and shade of your teeth, enhancing the beauty of your smile. At Esparza Dentistry, we offer porcelain veneers to help you achieve a flawless and confident smile. One of the cosmetic dentistry solutions we specialize in is porcelain veneers, a versatile treatment that can dramatically transform your smile. Understanding Porcelain Veneers Dental veneers are thin, tailor-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to camouflage flaws. Veneers address a variety of smile imperfections, from gaps and stains to chips, cracks, and more. Porcelain veneers are shells made from high-quality dental porcelain that create a natural-looking, radiant smile. The most common teeth for veneers are the top eight front teeth. Veneers are typically applied in pairs to offer a more uniform appearance. However, a single-tooth veneer is possible—the choice is yours. Who Would Benefit from Porcelain Veneers? A good candidate for porcelain veneers is anyone who wants to enhance the appearance of their teeth. We can use porcelain veneers to combat any of the following flaws: Discolored teeth: Teeth that are severely stained or discolored—whether from medication, genetics, or lifestyle habits like smoking or coffee consumption—can be concealed effectively with porcelain veneers. The porcelain shells offer a bright and consistent shade, making them perfect for those struggling with teeth discoloration. Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth: Accidents and injuries can result in chipped, cracked, or broken teeth, causing functional and cosmetic concerns. Porcelain veneers are an excellent option for restoring the appearance of damaged teeth. Small or misshapen teeth: If the size and shape of your teeth are a source of insecurity, veneers can help you achieve a balanced smile. We will customize the size and shape of the veneer to match your smile vision. Gaps (diastema): Some people have noticeable spaces or gaps between their teeth. Veneers can close these gaps to create a more uniform smile. Minor misalignment: Porcelain veneers can provide an effective cosmetic solution for those with slightly crooked or overlapping teeth. However, veneers don't change the position of your teeth, so for more significant misalignment, we recommend orthodontic solutions like Fast Braces® or Invisalign®. Worn-down teeth: If you struggle with grinding or clenching (bruxism), you may have worn-down teeth. With veneers, we can restore the length and shape of your teeth to enhance their appearance and function. While dental veneers are an excellent solution to any of these concerns or a combination of these issues, oral health problems like gum disease or decay should be treated first. At Esparza Dentistry, we have the expertise and experience to diagnose and treat your restorative and cosmetic needs. The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers From Hollywood A-listers to the average Joe, veneers offer a transformative smile upgrade with impeccable results. Benefits of porcelain veneers include: Aesthetic appeal: Porcelain veneers mimic the look of natural teeth thanks to their translucence and light-reflecting quality. As a result, veneers blend seamlessly with your existing teeth. Custom-made: Each veneer is tailor-made to fit the contours and dimensions of your teeth. We work closely with you to determine the ideal size, shape, and shade of your veneers, ensuring you achieve the beautiful smile you envision. Minimally invasive procedure: Unlike some other cosmetic treatments, placing porcelain veneers is minimally invasive, requiring very little enamel removal. This preserves the integrity of your natural teeth. Stain-resistant: Dental porcelain is naturally stain-resistant, even more so than natural enamel. Because porcelain is non-porous, you can rest assured that your favorite foods and drinks—like coffee or berries—won't compromise the brilliance of your smile. Long-lasting: Porcelain veneers can last 10 to 15 years with proper care, providing you with an enduring smile.

  • Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment in Ontario, CA There's nothing to worry about if you think you need root canal treatment: dentists perform over 15 million root canals every year to save infected teeth. By removing the infection inside the tooth, we can restore your tooth's function and beauty. At Esparza Dentistry, we perform transformative root canal therapy that alleviates your pain, enabling you to chew normally and smile confidently. While a root canal is a common procedure, you may have some questions about what the treatment entails and why it is needed. Read on to learn more. What Is Root Canal Therapy? When the inside of the tooth is exposed to bacteria, it can become infected. Bacteria can enter a tooth through the gum or from cracks or decay in the tooth. Untreated cavities and dental trauma leave you particularly vulnerable to infection beneath the tooth's surface. Root canal therapy is an endodontic procedure that removes the infection from the inside of an affected tooth. Beneath the tooth's enamel and dentin lies the pulp, which houses blood vessels and nerves. The pulp contains a chamber with canals that run down to the roots. When the tooth is infected, we remove the pulp to preserve the tooth and restore its function. A root canal ensures that infection does not spread to other teeth, relieves pain and other symptoms, and saves the tooth so that a tooth extraction isn't needed. If extraction is the best treatment option, there's no need to worry. We can replace a lost tooth with a mini dental implant, dental bridge, or partial denture. When Is a Root Canal Needed? Only your dentist can tell you definitively if you need a root canal, but there are some common symptoms that you can look out for. Symptoms include: Deep, persistent pain that may radiate to the jaw and face Pain when chewing or touching the tooth Sensitivity to temperature that may linger after consuming hot or cold foods and drinks Discoloration of the tooth, especially a darkened, greyish tone Pus-filled abscesses in the gums. These look like pimples that appear near the affected tooth Gums that are red, swollen, or tender Swollen jaw Loose-feeling tooth due to the softening of the bone that supports the tooth If you experience any of these symptoms and you know that your tooth is cracked, you will likely need root canal therapy. However, not everyone experiences the same symptoms, so it's best to maintain regular dental appointments. At your routine visits, we evaluate the condition of your teeth and perform treatments to address any issues before they worsen.

  • Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions in Ontario, CA At Esparza Dentistry, we aim to preserve your natural teeth whenever we can. Unfortunately, there are times when a tooth is so damaged or decayed that it cannot be saved. In these cases, we perform tooth extractions to maintain your oral health by preventing further damage. While severe decay and gum disease are the most common reasons for tooth extractions, we may recommend extraction for various concerns. Tooth extraction may be needed if: Your teeth are damaged or broken beyond repair. Your teeth are severely decayed and can't be remedied with a filling, root canal, or crown. You have periodontal (gum) disease that has led to gum and bone tissue deterioration. Your teeth are too crowded. Some people need a tooth removed before orthodontic treatment to create space for teeth to align properly. Your wisdom teeth are causing issues like overcrowding or increasing your risk for infection. The Tooth Extraction Process When a tooth is visible and easily accessible, we can perform a simple extraction. We'll apply local anesthesia first to numb the area. The tooth is then gently loosened with a dental elevator and pulled from the socket with forceps. A surgical extraction is needed for hard-to-reach teeth, such as impacted wisdom teeth. Because surgical extractions often call for additional anesthesia, you'll need to arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure. In cases of surgical extraction, we need to make an incision in the gum to access the tooth. Sometimes we need to create a gum tissue flap or trim down some bone tissue to make the tooth accessible. Depending on how deeply rooted the tooth is, we may need to remove it in pieces. Sectioning the tooth allows us to extract it without putting too much strain on it, reducing the likelihood of complications. After removing the tooth, we will clean the socket and close the gum tissue with sutures. We'll ask you to bite down on a gauze pad to stop the bleeding and encourage a blood clot to form in the socket. Socket Preservation Teeth stimulate the jawbone when you bite and chew, signaling to the jaw to generate new cells that keep your bone healthy. When a tooth is lost or extracted, the jawbone in that area is no longer stimulated, which means the bone will begin to recede. Unfortunately, when the bone deteriorates, the teeth can shift, leading to misalignment and complications if you plan to get a dental implant in the future. Without intervention, your jawbone begins to atrophy shortly after we extract the tooth. Socket preservation is a bone grafting technique that delays the deterioration of the jawbone by transplanting bone tissue to the extraction site. Building up the bone tissue strengthens it for a future dental implant. While mini dental implants take up significantly less space in the jawbone than traditional implants, you still need sufficient jawbone volume and density to accommodate them. Socket preservation helps maintain the jawbone's health until we place the mini dental implant. How Long Do Tooth Extractions Take? The length of a tooth extraction procedure depends on several variables, including: Type of extraction: simple or surgical Number of extractions needed Location and type of teeth needing removal Whether socket preservation is needed If a mini dental implant will be placed immediately At your free consultation, we'll discuss everything you can expect from your extraction, including the expected procedure length.
